WESTON—Wood County is moving ahead with plans to replace the Milton Road bridge over Ditch 2389 in Weston Township and widen the road, a project the Wood County Engineer’s Office has estimated at $781,100. Bids for the work were due in July, but no contract award has been posted, and the county has not announced a construction schedule or closure dates.


The Project


According to the Wood County Engineer’s project listing, the work is formally titled “Replacement of Milton Road Bridge No. 1-40G over Ditch 2389 and Road Widening.” The project area starts at the intersection of Milton Road and Poe Road in Weston Township and runs north to the Grand Rapids Township line.

The new crossing will use a Type A conduit measuring 14 feet by 9 feet. The engineer’s listing says the county has already paid for that structure, which has been built and is being held at Mack Industries. As a result, contractors were bidding only on installing the conduit and the associated road work, not on supplying the structure itself.

The solicitation, number 26-00775, was posted June 26 and listed a bid deadline of 2 p.m. July 13, 2026, according to the government bid listing service GovCB. The project no longer appears among current bids on the engineer’s website.

The Weston Common did not find a published bid tabulation or award for the Milton Road project on the county engineer’s website or in other public sources reviewed for this story.


Schedule and Closures


The county has not announced a construction schedule or closure dates for the project. Milton Road does not currently appear on the Wood County Engineer’s road and bridge closures list, which the office uses to post current closures and expected reopening dates.
