WESTON — A well-known regional favorite may be bringing its signature brand of comfort food to Weston. Miss Lily’s, a staple of the Grand Rapids riverfront for over a decade, is currently scouting new locations after its lease in Grand Rapids was pulled by the landlord to make way for a different type of venue.

Owner Lauri Vanderzwan is currently using a "people's choice" poll on social media to help determine the restaurant's next chapter. The three primary options under consideration are Tontogany, Liberty Center, and a site in Weston located just off Route 6 near McKenzie’s Flower Shop.


A Site with Potential


The proposed Weston location has a history of housing restaurants. While previous establishments at the site have closed over the years, local insights suggest those departures were due to various factors rather than a lack of community support or business volume.

The arrival of Miss Lily’s would provide a dedicated sit-down destination for "homemade comfort food," such as meatloaf, beef and noodles, and fresh daily pies. The business model incorporates a unique atmosphere that has historically drawn visitors from across the county.


Strengthening the Local Dining Scene


If Miss Lily’s chooses Weston, it would join an established local food scene that includes Porky’s Pizza Trof and the Horns & Halos Saloon. While these local favorites provide popular options for pizza and bar-style fare, Miss Lily’s would offer a complementary experience focused on traditional family meals.

The move represents a significant opportunity for the village. By establishing a well-known dining destination near the Route 6 corridor, the restaurant has the potential to act as a magnet for out-of-town visitors, bringing more people into Weston and supporting the local economy.

As the community poll continues, Weston residents are hopeful that the "people's choice" will lead Miss Lily’s to set up shop next to McKenzie’s, adding a new chapter to the village's culinary offerings.
