WESTON—Weston-area voters will choose a Wood County commissioner, a county auditor and two county judges on November 3, along with Ohio’s next governor, a U.S. senator and other statewide offices. Two countywide renewal levies, for senior services and the county library district, will also appear on every Wood County ballot. No issues from the Village of Weston, Weston Township or Otsego Local Schools appear on the lists of filed ballot issues.


Countywide Issues


According to lists published by the Sentinel-Tribune and BG Independent News, two issues go before all county voters:

  • Wood County Committee on Aging: renewal of a 1-mill levy for five years, commencing in 2026 and first due in 2027, for senior services or facilities.
  • Wood County District Public Library: renewal of a 0.8-mill levy for six years, commencing in 2027 and first due in 2028, for current expenses.

Both are renewals, which continue an existing levy rather than add a new tax.

  • Brenna Reynolds (D), a Rossford City Council member. Reynolds introduced herself to Weston Village Council during its April 20 meeting.
  • Ryan Lee (R) of Jerry City, picked by the county Republican Central Committee in August after Commissioner Doris Herringshaw withdrew for health reasons.
  • Joseph DeMare (I) of Bowling Green.

County Auditor

Shaver (D) and Michael Veloff (L); the 9th District lists Marcy Kaptur (D), Derek Merrin (R), Matthew Althaus (L) and Kathy McKinstry (I). For the Ohio House, the 75th District lists Haraz Ghanbari (R) and Richard Rettig (D); the 44th lists David J. Fournier (D), Edward Schimmel (R) and Lyndsey Stough (I).


Local Issues Elsewhere


Voters who live in Milton Township will see a renewal of a 2.5-mill, five-year levy for streets and bridges. Voters in the Village of Grand Rapids will see a renewal of a 2-mill, five-year levy for street construction and reconstruction.


Key Dates


According to the Ohio Secretary of State’s 2026 voting schedule:

  • Registration deadline: Monday, Oct. 5. County boards of elections stay open until 9 p.m. that day.
  • Early in-person and absentee-by-mail voting: begin Tuesday, Oct. 6. Absentee ballot applications must reach the board of elections by 8:30 p.m. Oct. 27.
  • Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Wood County’s early voting site is the Wood County Courthouse, One Courthouse Square in Bowling Green, according to the county Board of Elections. Early voting runs 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays at first, with longer hours in the final two weeks and weekend hours on Oct. 24, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

Ballots vary by precinct. Voters should confirm their sample ballot and polling place with the Wood County Board of Elections (419-354-9120).
