TONTOGANY—Starting Tuesday, Oct. 27, drivers on Route 235 will have to stop at Kellogg Road west of Tontogany. The Ohio Department of Transportation said in a release that its maintenance crews will convert the intersection from a two-way stop to an all-way stop that day.
Why the Change
ODOT said the change is meant to address a crash trend at the intersection. The most common crash there involved drivers who failed to yield to cross-traffic that didn't have to stop, according to the release as reported by BG Independent News and others.
Message boards will be posted on each approach, and ODOT asked drivers to use extra caution after the change takes effect. Signs at the intersection already announce the change, The Weston Common observed.
What We Don't Know Yet
ODOT District 2's own release wasn't available to us. This story relies on the release as quoted by three regional outlets, which agree on the date, the reason and the signage.
